I have been working on a project similar to Danny's A/V-O1's but using really cheap drivers just see how I liked the soundstage of the Omni design. Well I was hearing something really wrong in the speaker when it was close to the wall where I wanted to use it but not so bad at in the room.
Well I took my project to Danny's place today and he was nice enough to measure it's response close to the wall and out in the room. I'm glad to say my hearing was on par with what his CLIO system showed in the response graph, a really bad dip at 600Hz. This dip was much less with the speaker moved out into the room and was even worse when placed against the wall and next to something like my tv, which is how I wanted to use it. So it's back to the drawing board for this project.
I was amazed to see how much reflections off of a wall or other objects altered the frequency response of the speaker. I wish I had a measurement system like he has, it would be a blast to play with.
