Listening to my all-time favorite: Sonny Rollins - Way Out West.
It's just such a clean recording. Tenor, bass, and drums. I heard a recent interview with Sonny where he said he always preferred to record without a piano, which is nearly unheard of in jazz. He much preferred the simplicity of bass/drums alone in the rhythm section. He felt the piano pulled him in one direction or another, and he felt more free without it. I found that very interesting.
