 :D Buchardt Audio has A500's on pre sale sale.  You know,, these things look crazy good.  The remote unit is cool and even hook up your tt to it.  Dig x-over so you can play around with config.  Room eq also.  Also wireless subs ,,,, these with 4 subs would maybe fit a lot of peoples needs ?  These guys are ahead of things I think.   Very interesting..  :D

Buchardt S400 is the highly acclaimed passive predecessor of the A500 which is a switchable 2.5-way (maximum output) or 3-way (lowest frequency output) active design (3500 regular price euro per pair, sealed design, 25-40,000 Hz, built-in DACs, rear-firing in-phase 6" sub/woofer).  The 2.5 vs 3-way switching is done with flash drive and downloaded file.  No other frequency adjustment without the hub.  Like most modern active monitors DAC is built-in, rendering an external DAC all but pointless and in a digital system involve DAC/ADC/DAC conversions via it's single ended or balanced analog inputs.  Reportedly DSP corrects for system resonances and diffractions while also providing loudness control, aligns front and back drivers, and adds real-time overload protection.  Admittedly limited output (understandable for two 6 inch drivers to reach 25 Hz).

Not sure about the WISA hub/remote (4000 euro regular price for speakers/hub/remote):

- Wireless hub limits resolution to 24/96;
- Room correction requires hub and use of an iPhone for use as a microphone?;
- Not sure the features available for room correction;
- Not intended to be used with subs according to manufacturer, subs if used must be WISA compatible if used with hub (to access room correction);
- Hub has (1) analog (single ended), (3) optical, (1) coax, and (1) USB wired inputs;
- Hub has (7) wireless WISA main speaker (for up to 7 channel HT reproduction) and (1) wireless WISA sub outputs.

Lots of options in the active speaker realm now-a-days.  Note that the ELAC Navis ARB51 is a cheaper 3-way active monitor that offers wireless digital via a hub as well or the option to feed analog signal directly to an analog low voltage crossover so you can take advantage of your external DAC or analog source without digital conversion.
