Since it apears you can use the transporter as a preamp of a sort, does it retain volume levels between inputs ?
or do you have to adjust each time you change inputs?

It has a digital input menu (to choose one of four inputs) then Music Server, Squeeze Network, Internet Radio, etc.   The volume remains the same for any "input".  If using a preamp, you can set the digital volume to be disabled too.

So lets say I wanted to listen to my 10B  and volume was set at  10 , and I flipped the input to my 350B and was listening to it at 7  I could flip back and forth without having to readjust volumes?   Same for my 9100es at 9 and my Acute at 8 ?

Just trying to decide how viable this might be for comparisons, I constantly have to readjust my X1 when switching between sources such as my tuners which output at differant levels.

No, volume stays the same.  The TP is not designed as a preamp.
