I agree with most of the review on the CF except for the part about it being a little lean and the sound stage.  I found the sound to be full and musical with a wide sound stage and deep front to back depth.  Clearly it is all about system matching.  I auditioned it with my Pass X250 amp, an Ultra Plus DAC and my 1.6's speakers.

Like any review it is simply one person's take on how the AVA FET VALVE CF sounds.  Jeff Dorgay seemed to be more positive with his comments 'I don’t find the smallish soundstage that Jerold experienced to be an issue; it may have been system synergy. With the Fet Valve CF, everything from AVA’s own amplifier to a few examples from Pass Labs, Simaudio, Octave, and Audio Research all reveal the same big soundstage'.

At least frank doesn't use a captive power cord now and the reviewers can't criticise him for that now.
