Optic Cable changes bass output ?
« on: 16 Jun 2005, 07:41 pm »
H/K AVR 525
5 Emeralds
1 Force
Toshiba DVD player

I recently upgraded my cable to digital and discovered HD and Digital sound improvements, but noticed an increase in Bass (response?). I decided to change my DVD connection from RCA to a Digital Fiber cable. I did a questionable thing and purchased a $20 cable from Target to see if there would be a difference. The sound is much improved, but the bass is much more amplified. Is that a quality of the digital cable? Should I simply adjust my Force volume down. I do not want to risk over/under powering the sub and somehow hurting it.

Any input is great.  Thank you,

I'd start by just adjusting the bass level down to be even with where it was.  No need to worry, you can't really hurt the Force.

I will do that... thank you very much... Is there a reason the cable change would cause that. Is it just better quality or are the $20 Monster cables junk?
