bugle problem
« on: 6 May 2007, 04:16 am »
I can get sound for a split second (I guess for as long as the negative rail is suitably high) but then I lose all sound. It seems that the positive rail sits at around 8.65 while the negative rail starts at -8.65 and drops without opamps. But when any opamps are put in then the negative rail starts at around -5.5 and drops. Either way, the negative rail slowly shifts to 0 and with more opamps it drops faster. Any idea what would cause this? There's no DC offset at the outputs.

seems to be a battery problem. i swapped the two batteries and the shifting switched to the positive rail. i guess that's what i get for buying cheap batteries. i tried a third battery and now i get sound but one of the rails still shifts but very slowly. i guess i'll get another pair and see if that rectifies the problem. although i suppose there may be more than just that involved.
