Y-cable for BDA-3.14
« on: 31 Oct 2023, 06:54 pm »
My USB-C 2 TB SSD probably needs more power than one USB port of the BDA-3.14 can deliver: 500 mA.

The Y-cable consists of a combination of a USB 2.0 and a 3.0 adapter. The 3.0 adapter sends the data to the SSD and both the 2.0 and the 3.0 adapters send the current.

With this cable, it would be 1 A, in theory at least.

Has anyone tried such an accessory?

Willy

i don't think that's really going to address the problem.  i'd get something externally powered like this:  https://www.amazon.com/RSHTECH-Enclosure-External-Docking-Station/dp/B076HNWDMX/ref=psdc_172456_t3_B0C283ZL45

I'm using this 2TB SSD thumb drive with my 3.14 and it works perfectly.  I don't know what the power draw is, but I'll bet it's far below 500mA.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09XS1972J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
