HT2 that are 15" deep
« on: 7 May 2023, 02:37 am »
I've recently become aware of some veracity HT2 speakers that are assembled with 3/4" mdf instead of 1".
I've been told that this makes the speaker depth 15" instead of 17". Is this true? Are the 15" deep ones cheaper? Do they sound worse? Does anyone have any information or experience with this variation? I'm curious about this. Thanks

I use to have a pair of the 15” version of the HT2-TL.  I couldn’t tell any difference from the regular 17” version I auditioned.  If I remember correctly (it’s been over 10 years ago), there was no difference in price.

That is correct.  While a 1" cabinet may be a bit more inert, most cabinets are built with 3/4" walls.  There isn't any difference in audible performance and the price was the same either way.
