Ordered an upgraded kit today.

Thanks for the order Michael. Will ship this out next week. :thumb:

And I thank you. Currently using TVC.

Put this together. Chasing a hum. All 3 tube amps hum. I may try a d Class unit I have on the FR drivers next. Twisted pairs on 12v

What is your impedance set at? My tube amps like 75,000 impedance.

It's all but 100% certain that hum is being caused by a ground loop current somewhere in the system. Our preamps are coupled with all manner of tube amps without hum problems so it's not something inherent in the passive preamp or kits.
Take a few close-up photos of how you've wired up the ground connections including both power and signal grounds. Pics can be helpful in spotting problems.

Thanks for the replies. Impedance is the standard 20k. haven't tried to change it.

I might have this figured out. Trigger jack & power jack wiring needs a re-work.

Also, it appears (as far as I could tell from the photos) that you do not have a power ground wire running from the 12V jack to the star ground bus bar. That's required for calibration to work and many amps are not happy unless that ground connection is made.

Quiet as a "Graveyard' now. Power Jack red to plug, black to 'bus', then to ground. Same with trigger. Wonderful and After I'm finished with chores I'll sit and listen. Volume control now has a linear feel to it as before it was as if every notch was 3db.
Were strictly analog here but, can I stream through this unit?

Should be able to run any line stage source through the preamp.

Thanks. I was thinking I could use the USB port and use Tidal from a PC.
I thought the soundstage our system portrayed was already deep and very wide. Adding this volume control has opened things up quite a bit. I'm impressed and haven't spent 5 minutes with it.

Going over the instruction manual a bit more and wow. This unit has a ton of features. I'm thinking we're a bit bass heavy and at some point, I'm going to attempt an impedance change.
