This is a Jacaranda tree, which I used to have in my side yard in Chile.  It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.  It is a beautiful tree as it blossoms in purple!  Unfortunately most do not look as graceful as a ballet dancer in full stretch!
