Audiophile Ceiling Speakers as OB drivers?

Many of the high end audio companies offer extreme high quality ceiling mount speakers that are designed for zero enclosure.

How would they work in OB designs?

Example:

Given they are meant to be IB loaded I would expect their specs (QTS, XMAX etc) would be a good fit for OB.

Many folks could begin their OB exploration affordably with car speakers - most are also designed to work without an enclosure.

At this price point for the B&W there may be other purpose built drivers to consider also.

$600 per driver seems like an expensive experiment, of course they could always be re-used in a ceiling.

A friend had the early Emerald Physics open baffle speaker that used a PA speaker, to me it sounded like a PA speaker mounted in a sheet of plywood with imaging close to the floor because they were so low.
The B&W speakers might sound like ceiling speakers mounted in a sheet of plywood.

The adjustable tweeter would be helpful raising the sound higher.

If you want to DIY then there are many examples and you could learn from other successful designs.
