I had triple pane fiberglass windows installed throughout my house last year. Definitely reduced noise infiltration. Does not eliminate it but makes the sound only slightly detectable instead. I upgraded from developer grade double pane vinyl mostly for energy reasons but when I was told I would not be able to hear my next door neighbor's dog barking all the damn time, I signed up immediately.

What brand window is that, macrojack? How expensive?

Milgard. I bought 3@ 3' x 5' fixed pane windows.
3@ 5' x 4' casement w/1 side operable
1@ 3' x 3' awning window
1@ 3' x 2' awning window
1@ 6' x 6'8" patio slider
All are fiberglass frames and all are triple pane, argon filled. I paid about $11,000 complete and installed. No regrets. In fact, I like to show off my windows. Come on by.

Interesting article. 6 years ago I put in Marvin Integrity Ultrex fiberglass windows with the optional LoE3 glass since I am in the desert Southwest. The windows are very quiet and the LoE3 really works great with very little heat gain from direct sunlight. As quiet as the Marvin windows are, the STC rating can only reach 30.

But they are affordable, I got 7 windows, insulated double panes, LoE3 glass, Argon filled, custom pane dividers for $3,355
2 @ 36" x 49" glider
4 @ 36" x 37" glider
1 @ 68" 49" fixed

Installation not included and was lumped in with the remodeling cost.

When I built my audio building I used Milgard windows. I had dissimilar glass installed on all of them and that room is very quiet. On the inside it is much quieter than my house and they do a great job keeping the music in. I highly recommend doing it. The windows were literally $3.00 or $4.00 more per window for the regular sized windows.
