While not anywhere close to the level of pictures I see in this thread, here are a couple of pics I took this past weekend at my sister's high school graduation and celebration.  These pictures were taken with a Canon Rebel EOS XTi that I am borrowing from Woodsyi and are my first pics taken with a DSLR (in auto mode).  Thanks to all of you for posting awesome pictures and inspiring me to go beyond a simple p&s camera.

The last three leaves shots are all very nice.  :thumb:

I've noticed a really luminous quality in SET Man's photos.  They are all very BRIGHT, in a good way (okay, so that particular leaf shot does have clipped highlights)  I dunno what it is, but they all seem to glow from within.  And sharp too!  They just look technically excellent.

Hey!

Thanks Nathan. :D I wish I had a bit more headroom in the hight light. But all I had to work with was JPEG output from my nearly 5 years old P&S digicam I took with me for a bike ride that day. Not easy riding bike with my DSLR around my shoulder. But I did wish I had my big gun there.

I saw these dried out leaves and just love the light yellow color and the way they are all positioned.  I did try darken it but it lost that luminous glow quality and feel. Anyway, as it is I do love the luminous glow of the overall of this picture.... just looks better to my eyes this way.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

A couple of pictures from today's Little League game using my friend's Nikon D70 with a AF Nikkor 70-210mm lens on a tripod:

My son focused on throwing the heat!

Did he hit it?

Unfortunately, a swing and a miss

That helmet has seen better days!

Very nice!

But I would have preferred a pic of the other people in the cafe who were looking at you while you were taking a pic of your breakfast.  :thumb:

Hey George, How old is your boy? Maybe we could get his team and my boys' teams together for a fun match :green: My boys are pitchers as well.

The bubble-popping Sumo baby is nice - makes me wonder if Photoshop CS5's super magical healing tools could eliminate the "menacing" figure in the background.  Now that would be something…what with the tiny flecks overlapping his blue shirt and all.

Yep that menacing figure in the background is a friend of my son who is a Drill Sargent. We had a number of soldiers over last weekend (besides my son and his friend), not quite a squad...a fireteam actually.

Oh, I forgot to mention the shoot settings of my Canon 30D;

F- 3.2
ET - 1/500
EC - 0
