i just received the Australian March Audio P421 Monoblock amplifiers yesterday. Based on the new Purifi amplifier circuit, these amps sound really nice. Very low distortion claims which seem to be well founded from what I am hearing. Much more powerful than what I am used to, I have been using a number of tube amps with max power being 50wpc Class A. The 225 wpc P421s drive the Oticas beautifully with great control. :singing:

Nice.  Class D has come a long way!

I'm intrigued by these amps- but there isn't much info/reviews out there on them.  Did you call March and speak to them about your application?

They appear to be just a standard Purifi module and input buffer in their chassis. So the amp will measure and sound the same as similar brands doing that.

The Purifi website talks about the modules as well as the new drivers.

I found March through some link and decided to go with the March interation because I like the speaker connectors, I beleive the power supply is very quiet. The amp is completely silent, no noise. It sounds very clean and powerful. I do like them with the NXoticas and they also sound good and completely silent with 99db efficient Omega High Output Monitors. This new tech sounds good to me ears. Also no hardness in the treble which drove me crazy with older Class D technology,

Thank you.  What other amps have you used with your Oticas?

I'm currently using a Mac integrated that uses a tube pre-amp and SS 200WPC (class AB) power amp.  It sounds sublime with the Oticas, but I'm curious to what monos can do for the soundstage.  I haven't listened to class D yet, but these seem like an 'affordable' way to try them out with a two week trial period if I really don't like them.

I have used only tube amps. Decware SE84UFO25 (monoblocks) but they would not drive the Oticas with only 5wpc. They did well with the 99db efficient Omegas and absolutely sublime with my 105db Horn System. I also have older Mastersound 845 Single ended monoblocks 50 wpc Class A. They did an awesome job and the sound was fantastic. I also used Quicksilver Horn Monoblocks 20wpc. While this would drive the Oticas, they had very low gain and caused the OB subs to output too much gain to match the oticas.

I am pretty much a monoblock afficiando and soundstage with the NXOticas has always been great... IMHO. The March P421 monoblocks the soundstage is fantastic. The distortion seems so low and the power (which I have not had with the tube monos) I think I prefer over the Mastersound amps. That is not a small statement as the Mastersound are single ended class A and sound beautiful.

Had a very similar experience with the LSA Warp-1 Amp and Benchmark LA4 preamp . I am a tube guy as well. Very impressed.

I looked up the LSA amp. sounds like similar technology. I never thought I would be saying I liked this Class D amp as much or more than a tube amp  I have not done a long-term listening session yet. That will be when the rubber meets the road.

I think the NX-Oticas being a 3 way design really benefit from an amp with extra grip.  I run mine with a First Watt BA3 amp and it is a really good match.
