sonic differences between gliders and fat dots?
« on: 23 Feb 2015, 09:08 pm »
Is there any discernible difference sonically between big fat dots and gliders?  Or between gliders and giant fat gliders? Or for that matter between the big fat dots and the X-Large or Giant fat dots?

Trying to decide between these 3-4 products for use under some 60lb speakers and some 100lb speakers.

These products all use the same dBNeutralizer material, so in that regard sonic results will be quite similar--all reducing the ill effects of unwanted micro-vibration, bringing out more of the best inherent potential of the speakers. Discernible sonic differences will depend on the severity of the vibrational environment they are dealing with, with larger Dots and Gliders having more vibration absorbing and vibration blocking "beef" to do the job.

Primary difference between Dots and Gliders is that Gliders allow for easier mobility of the speakers, easy to toe-in or out to achieve best soundstage and imaging and positioning for best interaction with room acoustics. Gliders also allow for use on carpet (as well as any kind of floor).

For most 60 to 100-pound  floorstanding speakers, regular Cone/Spike Decoupling Gliders under the stock spikes do very well and are most popular. If you have lots of macro-type vibration such as footfall with a suspended floor, Giant Cone/Spike Decoupling Gliders or Giant Fat Gliders might be more advantageous with the 100-pound speakers.
