We still have some X-Voce center channels left.
I just got in a 40 foot container full of X-Series speakers from Santiago and I am blowing these out for him. I am not making a lot of money on these at these prices, and I have to cover the $6,000 shipping cost for the container to get here (plus inland shipping cost, OUCH!). The bulk of it is going to be sent to Santiago. He was left with a lot of inventory when AV123 closed the doors and he needs to recover from it. So help him out and jump on these deals. The prices are going to be really good. Keep in mind that AV123 was pricing these things just above cost and running them on sale to generate cash flow. The real retail price for this stuff should have been a lot higher. I think these prices are cheaper than they have ever been offered though. So act fast if you want them.
On this shipment I have X-Omni, X-Voce, and X-Statik's. I'll try to post pics of everything as I can. Do a few searches on the net and you'll find some great pics.
Note that some of the numbers have been adjusted as I didn't really get what they said I was getting. What is on the packing slip (color wise) and what I really got were two different things.
Here is what I have in X-Statik's:
1 pair) Black Satin: $699 for the pair. (complete) Sold
5 pairs) 7 pairs) Black Satin: $599 for the pair. (No Grills, No Base, No floor spikes) Sold out
4 pairs) Moho Natural Satin: $599 for the pair. (No Grills, No Base, No floor spikes) Sold out
5 pairs) 2 pairs) Negro Diamond finish: $599 for the pair. (No Grills, No Base, No floor spikes) Sold out.
38 units) Black Satin X-Statik bases: $12 each. Yes they sent separate bases. 4 left
Remember the X-Statik was reviewed by Affordable Audio, AV Guide, Gear Patrol, Audioholics, and the Absolute Sound, winning their Top Value award and an Editors Choice award. Stereo Mojo also gave it a Best of Show at RMAF 2008.
Here is what I have in the X-Voce center channels:
14 units) Moho Rosa Diamond finish: $350. (complete) 11 left
3 units) Natural Satin finish: $350. (complete) 1 left
3 units) Natural Diamond finish: $350 (complete) 2 units left
13 units) Moho Rosa Satin finish: $350. (complete) 10 units left
3 unit) 1 unit Cherry Rosa Diamond finish: $350 (complete) All gone
3 units) Black Satin finish: $350. (complete) All gone
13 units) Negro Diamond finish: $350. (complete) 0 left
4 units) Negro Diamond finish: $315. (No Grills)
Here is what I have in X-Omni's:
1 pair) Macsarey Rosa Diamond: $325 per pair. Sold
1 pair) Negro Diamond: $325 per pair. Sold
19 pairs) Mascarey Rosa Satin: $325 per pair. Sold
13 pairs) Mascarey Rosa Satin with no grills and no bases$325. On sale for $250 a pair. sold out A small base can easily be made from a piece of MDF and painted Black.
I opened a couple of them and took a few pics. I will try to take more pics as time allows. If any of you X series owners want to post pics and feedback in this thread then feel free.

Even as a stand alone pair, the X-Omni's were a favorite of mine. The imaging and sound stage was just outstanding. This put them above the X-LS, or X-SLS models for me. In handling surround duty they also really shined.
Here is a cool pic that I found:

Well, these prices are pretty crazy. :hyper:

Danny, you are making it exceedingly difficult to save my money for the V1s when you post things like this. :banghead:
I guess I could sell one of my other pairs of speakers to offset the cost.
-
The X-Omni's were selling for $99/pair at one point in time.
Just stating the facts.

You guys crack me up.
The X-Omni's were selling for $99/pair at one point in time and Crazy Eddie was did jail time for fraud.
Just stating the facts.
I think that price was only if you added them in a package deal w/ other speakers, not standalone.

I think that price was only if you added them in a package deal w/ other speakers, not standalone.
It started out that way, but someone asked on the forum if he could buy just the X-Omni's for $99. Of course the answer was, "Yes!" and many purchased just the X-Omni's for $99. I think they were having trouble selling them and needed the cash flow.
I have Cherry X-Omni's with Ninja Master crossovers, Sonicap Platinum bypass caps, and NoRez. These speakers are incredible for music!

Yeah, sounds familiar. Nevertheless, they are a heck of a lot better than that $99 price tag might imply. As you said, I think AV123 just needed some cash at that point.

Hi Danny,
How does the X-Statik compare to your OB5/7? I haven't got around to build a OB7, and X-Statik might be a good alternative. Just hope the postage to Aus is not prohibitively expensive. Thanks.

The OB-5 and OB-7, with its Neo tweeter, has a little better resolution and low level detail retrieval.

Hi Danny, I rarely post here (or anywhere for that matter), but I have a few questions.
I'm in zip code 19312 and am wondering how much would it cost to ship a pair of x-omni's to either my house or business (also zip 19312) ? Also, curious about S&H costs for the X-statics.
Next question is about the grills. Do the x-omnis come complete with grill (grills?), bases and spikes ? And what about the x-statics, I see that you have bases but where can I find grills ?
Grills are important as these speakers would be in my basement and exposed to great danger in the form of 3 young boys whose ages range from 8 - 12 (actually 4 young boys if you count me...because my wife would), and are known to have at least one daily ping-pong ball war.
-
You can see from the pic of the x-omnis there are total of four black thingys, two on top and two on front baffle, that hold the grills in place. So yes, grills are probably included. Also the pic shows the speakers have black painted bases, likely MDF. Spikes, dunno.

$48 in shipping.

Yes.

$53 each.
Shipping is via UPS. It would be a little cheaper if you weren't all the way up there in Berwyn, PN.
I see that you have bases but where can I find grills ?
Good question. I do not have a good answer yet.
-
Danny will you ship the X-Statik to Mexico???
-
Hey Danny,
Thanks for doing this for customers and for Santiago. I was really bummed about what Mark did to Santi and others and I appreciate what you are trying to do do.

Well, thank you. You guys can all help too, by taking advantage of these last remaining great deals.
-

If you need a pair of grilles made just let me know.
The grilles would be built using a wooden frame, black grille cloth and would attach to the ends of the metal studs via 3/8" magnets .
Thanks!
Ruben

$48 in shipping.
OK, how do I order ?

Alright, lets try this again.
Danny, How do I order ?

The easiest way to order is to just give him a call. Or if you live close enough just show up at his door, either way has worked for me.

Danny, quick ?. The units without grills, do they have the posts on the speakers, or no? Others may be interested in knowing also. If they don't have the posts on the speakers, I might consider a pair of X-stats. Just have to figure out where to put them...

Are you talking about the studs that hold the grills on? I have noticed that some have them in there and some do not. Some have little holes there where they would normally screw in.
-
That's exactly what I was talking about. I'm going to give you a call in a little bit.

These are sold out.

You're absolutely right, Danny. These deals are too good to pass up.
It looks like the V1s will have to wait.

Hi Danny,
I'm currently corresponding with you by email. I am the customer from Perth Western Australia and requesting advice regarding shipping costs.
I'm hoping to have a reasonable match regarding veneer with my nuforce s9 speakers:

Not the best photograph but just wondering which voce-x veneer you think might match.

Hi Danny,
Is this the veneer? I copied the picture from an old av123 thread.

It's going to be Monday before I can get you a shipping quote.
I have an X-Voce in Cherry Moho Diamond that might actually be pretty close. I'll try to get some pics of that one as soon as I can.

Ahh I remember that pic! Beautiful example of the Moho veneer and the X-SLS is one of my all time favorites. They just did so much so well :) Well done Danny!!

Hi Danny,
Yes no problem regarding the quote for shipping and if it is under $400US I will order the centre channel from you. I was just trying to ascertain the colours of the veneers.
Thanks for your help.

A buddy of mine bought a pair of X-Statik's and a X-Voice in satin black this evening. These speakers are such a bargain, it makes me want some but I don't have any where to use them. :duh: I'll just keep holding for a pair of Super V's. :)

I know exactly what you mean. I don't need a pair of X-Statiks as they won't replace my LS9s, but they are really amazing speakers. I heard the prototype at Danny's a couple of years ago and was floored at the quality/price ratio. When Danny bought these out from AV123, I picked up the guts to build a pair one day.

Just a little tip for those of you picking up any of these speakers, TAKE OFF THE METAL GRILLS, both front and rear!!
I've never ran the front grill on my X-Voce as I don't like the look but always had the rear one on. I took it off this weekend and couldn't be happier about my free "tweak" :) It is definitely clearer sounding with less "ring" to it. The grill must have vibrated or something (even though it was firmly screwed down) as there is an audible difference with it off. It looks a bit odd, but I'm getting used to it :) Plus, if you have a Ninja crossover, it'll get shown off even more so.
I remember reading a review on the X-Statik's and X-Voce and the reviewer did the same thing and really thought it made a big difference in the sound. I just wanted to pass on my 2 cents and let you know that it works in the "real" world too

All you X-Omni guys check this thread out: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=90165.0
I will also be updating the first post to show what is still available. I have good stock still on a lot of these, but some of the more popular finishes may be gone soon.
-
I found one pair of X-Omni's today with no grills. So if you are wanting a pair with no grills then this is the pair for you.
-
Also, the ninja sells a metal grill dampening kit for $5.. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes in the effect you're talking about, but the option is out there for people to try.

Hi All,
I'm the lucky individual who purchased the x-omni's in Mascary Rosa Diamond. I say lucky because this was the pair that Danny references in post #40 on this thread. I'm also saying lucky because these are wonderful speakers.
I'm using these speakers in a second system in our basement. Last summer our basement completely flooded out (4k paid to servicemaster to get it dried out...over 30 fans and dehumidifiers required to complete this task) and ruined a finished basement. Last fall we refinished the basement and for christmas we put in a new tv. I wanted to add better audio for the new tv because tv audio just isn't what it used to be but I didn't want to go with a surround setup (been there...done that). My original idea was to add a soundbar but then I ran across this speaker sale and I thought that the x-omnis might actually work well in a 2.1 setup.
So I ordered the x-omnis just on a hunch. Well the speakers arrived last tuesday, and were played for about 20 hours during the week (kids were at school so just music). I was impressed but this past weekend we watched about 4 football games, 1 hockey game, 1 basketball game and 2 movies with the x-omnis providing all the audio. These speakers are just really nice in this kind of arrangement. Great clarity, nice imaging, high WAF, didn't spend a ton of money...what more do you want me to say except these are a really good bargain.
Thanks Danny !, I'm a really satisfied customer.
-
Hello All !!!
Just a short note to say THANKS again.

How about the x-statics and if we have a problem with a woofer or tweeter do you have replacements?
The first page lists how many of each are left. I have about 3,000 or more of those woofers on hand. So no worries on replacements.

I'll call ya later

Danny, I'm here on recommendation for someone with a set of x-statiks. I'm interested in everything, the statiks, voce and omnis, but without sounding too vain, there's no way to get a matching set. Which combo do you recommend that would have the closest colors?
Also, could you quote me shipping to 56537 for x-statiks alone and also if I were to buy a full set of everything.
-
Yippee! Placed an order for a pair of X-statiks, X-voce, bases, spikes, and no-rez yesterday! :D
Been lurking for a couple months, pondering an OB-5 or 7 kit or another kit/design from somewhere else when I decided to take the plunge and ordered the X-statics. Based on what I've been reading, it sounds like I won't give up a whole lot (cleaner, more detailed tweeter, more woofage in the 7) to the OB-5 or 7 and get a ready-made speaker that I can customize to scratch my DIY itch. I ordered the xover upgrade from the skiing ninja as well. My woodworking skills will be pretty maxed building larger sealed cabs for my 15" Dayton (parts express) subs anyways.
I appreciate all great info on this forum; it really helped me make an informed decision.
-
You will love the X-Statiks.
-
Received mine today, I appreciate the quick shipment. Can't wait to get my receiver tomorrow so I can check them out.
-
It's been 3 years since I attended a get-together with my buddy, Cedric. It was my first time getting to hear these x-series speakers he had been telling me about. I'd never heard of AV123 but after seeing how nice they looked on the website I was definitely curious.
Down in an unfinished basement surrounding several rows of chairs were 2 pairs of these really unusual speakers. I saw a small sign next to one where I searched for a price. It was around what I was expecting for such a well-built and real wood veneered cabinet. Or so I thought. I was shocked to find that it wasn't for each, the price I saw was for both! :o
Hearing them was also a surprise. Particularly when the accompanying subs were turned off. The huge, electrostatic-like soundstage made my jaw drop.
Anyway, with the help of Santi and Danny I finally got a pair! These are just some of the most satisfying and fun speakers I've ever owned! Not to mention beautiful. :thumb:

Danny, can you describe the sound of the X-Voce versus the Onix Rocket Signature "Bigfoot" center (I don't have the matching fronts anymore so my question is whether the X-Voce would be a good replacement)? Also, any link to these finishes?
Thanks.
Mark

Not only are the paper cone drivers in the X-Voce a more natural sound, but with the dual mids in an open baffle, it is more transparent as well. No comparison really, at least for me. I'd take the X-Voce.
I'll have to take some more pics of the remaining X-Voce's so you guys can see what the finishes that are left look like.

Any idea when you will be getting another shipment? Just want to try to get some matching finishes.

From Cherry to Moho.
Yesterday I received the last piece of my puzzle. I got a matching moho veneered X-Voce to go with my X-Statiks!
Sounds great but still working on crossover/cabinet upgrades.

Nice! I see you've been fully "de-grilled" too :thumb: How do you like the voce?
-
I already have one in cherry which I'm selling to my brother. I spent 6 hours last night swapping out crossovers as I had upgraded the cherry voce with Ninja Elite.
And I always take the grills off. I like the way they look but never liked how resonant they were. Especially that big one covering the open baffle of the voce.

Got ya. So you've been well skoold in the removal of the grills then :thumb: I really liked the way they look on the OB portion but I agree, it was a tad resonant.
How much of a difference did the XOVER upgrade make?
-
Big difference! :o
I've upgraded a dozen X-series speakers with Sonicaps/Mills/Platinums and in all of them they made an easily noticeable improvement in overall resolution and low level detail. Better separation of vocals/instruments and a wider and deeper soundstage can also had by adding platinum bypasses.
Highly recommended!

Those cheap caps and resistors that come stock really hold back those Encore tweeters. Without the upgrades you can't hear how good they really are.
Still a step behind Danny's Neo tweeters but pretty damn good. :thumb:

Just got my pair of X-statiks in satin black. I only have a couple hours so far on them but they already sound quite good. I've listened to setups costing 10 times what I've spent and let's just say I'm not tempted to go out and duplicate them. These are really good speakers straight out of the box.
I also got the components to upgrade the crossovers. And while I was at it got the parts for a two driver open baffle servo sub. My wife has been after me to clean up the basement (where my woodworking stuff is) anyway so win-win. :D
Can't wait to get them broken in, upgraded, and paired with the sub. An amazing deal, thanks a lot Danny!

Thanks for the quick reply, sir! The negro diamond is what I was curious about since the satin is out. I'm guessing this is like a black piano gloss?

Yes it is.

Here's a crappy pic of mine. In this case the X-Statiks are satin black and the X-Voce is negro diamond. Nobody I've shown them to has noticed they were a different finish. If you look really close you can see the difference but it's not apparent until you're looking for it.

And a close up of the X-Voce.

And yeah, my room sucks. It's a temp setup until I get the basement finished. It's absolutely horrible, both visually and acoustically.

Quite a few guys removed their grills on their X-Statiks. So it shouldn't be hard to find someone that is interested in selling them for a good price.
Welcome to AC.
-
Danny, any chance for a pair of x-statics and x-voice in same color ?
thanks

All X-Statik's are gone. I can get you an X-Omni and we can get someone to build you some matching X-Statik cabinets. I have plenty of X-Statik kits.
-
Thanks Danny. I can buy the kits. Do you know any builder in Northern VA ?
my zip is 20181

Trying to see if I can squeeze an X-Omni into a New York apartment. Not an easy task...
I can get it two feet from any wall, but not three, as seems to be heavily recommended.
Anyone have any insight as to whether performance would be acceptable at 2 feet?

What you really want is for the wall reflections to be delayed from the front wave so that they are perceived by the ear as a reflection. If the time difference between the two is too short then the ear perceives it as a time smear of the original signal.
And welcome to AC.

Would you put the X-LS Encore ahead of the Omnis as far as sound quality goes? I am second guessing the order I put in on Friday after looking at these.

They use the same drivers and have the same "sound". But with proper placement the X-Omni's will sound more transparent, less boxed, and have a bigger and more layered sound stage.

Well you sold me on them. :)
Now for placement, is it three feet from the top area of the speaker or the entire enclosure? I have a 30" counter/bar that I am using to hold my tv and store my a/v components, so I will not be able to get it 3' from that but it will be 18" away from it. This will likely affect the port however it will be cutoff at 80hz. Will this work for them?

I'm not sure what this means in practical terms, are you just saying they have to be three feet from the wall or that we can do something else so that they sound like they are three feet from the wall? If so what is the something else?

Basically he is saying that it is not optimal to be less than three feet, of course many people live with sub optimal rooms so you should be fine. One thing you could do to help is putting some bass traps or acoustic panels near, but I will let him fill in if this would be acceptable...

I believe what Danny is referring to is the HAAS effect.
Here is a good explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haas_effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haas_effect)
Reflections arriving from 1-5mS after the direct tend to confuse the image. Using 5mS, equates to a 3 foot distance from the wall for a two way travel time of that amount. After that it adds to the spaciousness of the sound.
-
Thanks! A couple questions. Is the distance from the wall necessary because of the rear port, or the woofer on top? Do treatments behind the speaker help?
Also can the port be on the front or on the side? Can it be built sealed?
Ok, that is more than a couple :green:...
-
HAL answered the question perfectly. If you can get to a 6ms delay then you are home free.
Treatments will help soften the reflections.
At 3 feet or more out into the room the port direction will change things very little.
And the X-Omni is best off ported.

Also to clarify the three foot guideline seems to be for the woofer or top of the enclosure, they sound great in my room.

I would like to have some more information about the speakers you are offering. I mostly listen to classical music and looking for for speaker system that will sound clear natural and not harsh. The high's must be clear and not congested.
I have two Lazarus mono blocks for the Mid and High, and one Modified Hafler 220 for the bass.
Please contact me so we can discuss the topic.

Remember the X-Statik was reviewed by Affordable Audio, AV Guide, Gear Patrol, Audioholics, and the Absolute Sound, winning their Top Value award and an Editors Choice award. Stereo Mojo also gave it a Best of Show at RMAF 2008.

Danny, did you ever find out if the X-Static bases work with the X-Omnis?
-
I mostly listen to classical music and looking for for speaker system that will sound clear natural and not harsh. The high's must be clear and not congested.
Then you can have confidence considering every speaker that I have ever designed.
-
Danny, did you ever find out if the X-Static bases work with the X-Omnis?
There are a pair of screw holes at the front and a pair at the back of the base that will be exposed if they are used on the X-Omni's. But you are welcome to them. I'll even discount them.

I will be taking you up on the offer, but it will have to wait a bit since I am likely buying a few more things as well. :thumb:
-
Yet another question:
For the X-Omnis, would you apply No Rez to those as well? I opened them up and noticed the insulation running down the front half of the tower and then all the felt applied throughout.
Where would No Rez be beneficial, and also how much would be necessary for those? Since I will likely be ordering one sheet to build a single X-LS Encore for center channel duties, I may as well just pay the little extra to get those done as well.

There is some benefit to using the No Rez in them for sure. Installing it is easy. The tough part is removing all of the felt that lines the walls currently. The insulation running down the front half of the enclosure will need to be placed back after the No Rez is installed.

Curious if you are getting any more x-statics.

Curious if you are getting any more x-statics.
I am not getting in any more fully assembled units, but I have plenty of kits.
-
Question on the X-Voce:
Is the grill missing for the front and the back cover as well, or just the front grill?

All of these kits can be upgraded with Sonicaps, Mills resistors, tube connectors, sheets of No Rez, etc.
I have some X-Voce that I need to do something with and I have a lot of X-Statik kits on hand. So I may have to do a Thanksgiving week special (Black Friday style, but all week long).
-
X-Voce and X-Omni kits available? What would be the black Friday price for these kits? Also what upgrade would you recommend?

Those kits are available still. I have lots of them in stock.
I was thinking about running a really good deal on the completed X-Voce speakers and maybe even discounting an X-Statik kit to go with it.
-
I will be the first to buy. X-Voce package size please?

The last sale was really good. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=106681.0
Time to move some of these though. I think I can make an even better deal this time.
-
The last deal was amazing so I am really ashamed to ask, what is the new one?
Also I need to know the X-Voce package size in order to calculate shipping.

So Danny,
If I had enough woodworking skills to remove the "bottom" of the x-voce between the sealed woofers and supported the structure properly in another way (similar to your photo of the OB-5 at the back of the speaker), can I turn the x-voce upright and use it as a large monitor with open baffle for the center section (MTM)?

The crossover was designed with the bottom between the two mids in place. Removing it would require the crossover to be altered.
You might be surprised at how good they sound as is and stood up on its end. It would need a pretty beefy stand though.

nevermind the PM's, i'll call tomorrow.

a quick follow up...
i ordered an X-Voce in black and received it the other day. just put up a wall shelf for it, hooked everything up and plugged in the parameters for the new center, and the system sounds just glorious. also, i was able to finagle an x-over upgrade that is on its way.
thanks Danny, i figure i owe you at least $20 on this deal.

No worries. Maybe you'll want to order something else from me one of these days.
-
yeah, i'd thought of that too!

quick update:
its been about a month since my X-Voce had the upgraded xo installed, and all the eq has been dialed in. i was really worried about the integration with my main speakers, but i am quite happy with the end result. it makes for a really nice addition to my system.

Danny, are there any X-Voce or X-Statik's still available?

As for completed speakers, I do have X-Voce models in stock. No more X-Statik's though. They are only available as kits.

Got it, thanks! Kicking around a number of ideas here :) Getting ready to take the plunge!
-
Danny,
Do you have the plans for the X-Voce anywhere?
Would this work with the X-Otica as well as the X-Static or would it need to use the M165NQ's to match well with the X-Otica?
