I helped a friend out for a bit while they went for lunch and tried to not play the SOS that you always hear. Cranked up Lazy from my DVD-A of Deep Purple Machine Head.  A visitor came and was rocking back and forth smiling, so I figured that was a good sign.

Happened to be playing Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, Stars Fell On Alabama and received a nice hug from an Alabama gal who was in the room.

My demo track was a live version of The Yellow Jackets' "Wildlife" from "Live Wires".  It may have been in poor taste because it is quite long (9:25) and starts off with a lot of percussion antics, but I ended up writing it down for someone in pretty much every room it played.  Probably not audiophile approved, but fun to listen to. 

One speaker maker, who shall remain nameless, initially refused to cough up the disc.  I really had to bargain my way out of there.

I tried to burn a CD full of different stuff that I like to listen too, however my crappy burner only got two songs.  So I mostly tested with Alex Skolnick Trio covering War Pigs.  Yes it is a Jazz band covering heavy metal.

not being a jazz guy, does anyone know who does the track that i heard in several rooms, including the focal room? the one with the solo stand up bass, it is a kind of whimsical cover of some old chestnut with a lot of rhymical slapping? brian bromberg maybe?

I plan to pick-up something by the Alex Skolnick Trio after hearing the disc standub brought to Fritz's room.

I ran across Rodrigo y Gabriela researching Alex Skolnick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKdzwrpIqJw and plan to buy a CD or two.

Lastly, ceedee had several cuts by Wende Snijder on his sampler.  I just picked up Chante! and all I can say is, "Wow!"

I love finding new music at RMAF...
