What was playing? Familiar music that sounded especially good or bad?
Any new music that caught your ear?
-
First time I heard this one, will pick it up today if I can find it.
Nils Lofgren - Acoustic LIVE

Also I heard a recording done in a basement just a drum set and bass that was good have no idea who it was, anybody know?
-
I am bumping this thread up. I think it is a great topic and hope for more responses. Surely someone played something you had not heard before and you had to sit up an take notice. C'mon, I need some new tunes. :banana piano:
-
Gabriella y Rodrigo: Stairway to Heaven
Sounded very good in a room that I cannot remember.
-
Jen Chapin - You haven't done nothin'
Did anyone get that Yello song in the Vandersteen room they demoed with? Can't find it on the stated "2007" album.
-
I heard several songs from Blue Coast Records in at least 6 or 7 rooms. Acoustic stuff, superbly performed and recorded. In fact, in one room (forget which) I was sitting next to Cookie Morenco. She is the producer and founder of Blue Coast, and was playing parts of a cd that isn't out yet. Part of the reason I attend RMAF is to hear new music, and BCR was the real gem this year.
-
the best was (don't remember the room sorry) someone pulling out a jazz album, cueing up a song, and me going "hey, what is this i know this". then the lyrics start: "sunny day, sweeping the clouds away"
YES :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
i think i was the only one amused.
can you tell me how to get, how to get to..

We played that in our room: Neko Audio + AudioKinesis + Atma-Sphere. Perhaps that was the one you remembered? Duke had brought it on CD and I ripped it onto my MacBook as Apple Lossless.
-
Very possible it was your room as I did stop by. Only caught the last part of the song, but was easy to recognize even with the spanish highlights.
Will have to find that disc! Thanks for the introduction to that version. It did sound very good!

Pretty much the same 20 cuts you hear at every show.

I was able to run through Madder by Groove Armada once. :)
Some music that I was asked by visitors about how to get were:
Faye Wong - Eyes On Me
Nobou Uematsu - Dancing Mad (Distant Worlds II orchestral version)
I also got positive comments playing:
Joe Hisaishi - The Demon God
Julianne - Love Will Light The Way,
Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner

Duke played Simon & Garfunkel live in Central Park that had me totally absorbed. I mentioned what I heard in the Audiokinesis/Neko room here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=86946.msg850777#msg850777

Any chance it was the Tom's Diner remix as done by DNA? I heard the S&G recording at LSAF with the Prisms and was very pleased.

No. :) I have the original and the reprise (which has the music) versions.

Pretty much the same 20 cuts you hear at every show.
Clearly you didn't hear me playing TOOL at loud volumes in most rooms, or Jason playing Llama from MA.
-
Wow, too bad I missed that! I would have made a bee line for any room playing TOOL!
:)
-
"The Grudge" off Lateralus, at HIGH volumes!!!! :P
-
I helped a friend out for a bit while they went for lunch and tried to not play the SOS that you always hear. Cranked up Lazy from my DVD-A of Deep Purple Machine Head. :guitar: A visitor came and was rocking back and forth smiling, so I figured that was a good sign. :)
Happened to be playing Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, Stars Fell On Alabama and received a nice hug from an Alabama gal who was in the room. :thumb:

My demo track was a live version of The Yellow Jackets' "Wildlife" from "Live Wires". It may have been in poor taste because it is quite long (9:25) and starts off with a lot of percussion antics, but I ended up writing it down for someone in pretty much every room it played. Probably not audiophile approved, but fun to listen to.
One speaker maker, who shall remain nameless, initially refused to cough up the disc. I really had to bargain my way out of there.
-
I tried to burn a CD full of different stuff that I like to listen too, however my crappy burner only got two songs. So I mostly tested with Alex Skolnick Trio covering War Pigs. Yes it is a Jazz band covering heavy metal.

Did anyone stop and listen to Robert Silverman on the 9' Steinway concert grand....
-
Not only did I stop by, I recorded it on my iPhone. I'll upload it tomorrow.

not being a jazz guy, does anyone know who does the track that i heard in several rooms, including the focal room? the one with the solo stand up bass, it is a kind of whimsical cover of some old chestnut with a lot of rhymical slapping? brian bromberg maybe?

I just got this CD in the mail today. Loaded it up on the Mini and WOW. Awesome!
-
I plan to pick-up something by the Alex Skolnick Trio after hearing the disc standub brought to Fritz's room.
I ran across Rodrigo y Gabriela researching Alex Skolnick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKdzwrpIqJw and plan to buy a CD or two.
Lastly, ceedee had several cuts by Wende Snijder on his sampler. I just picked up Chante! and all I can say is, "Wow!"
I love finding new music at RMAF...
