Hdr and older reciever
« on: 7 Nov 2020, 02:39 pm »
Here's the problem , have a new TV and an older avr ,not that old  4k60. The avr won't pass hdr or dolby vision without giving me the pink washed image. This is making it so I can't watch anything  on Disney plus and alot of Netflix content. Is there a way around this? Can I plug my streaming box into my TV and somehow get surround audio back to my AVR?

If your TV has multiple HDMI inputs, then yes, you can just plug your different video devices directly into the HDMI inputs on your TV.

If that's not an option, you need either a new receiver or you need to get a separate HDMI switcher, which are not very expensive but they do add complexity.
