James,  Fenders seem to run 1-5/8" to 1-11/16", I don't know what years have which? 1-3/4" seem like a good size for us flt top pickers....

You're right on the money...ran upstairs with the caliper...the Bill Lawrence Tele measures 1-5/8 which is 1/16 less than the too-narrow flattop nuts.  Looks like there's a new Thorell neck with a 1-3/4 nut in my future.  I can hear other players saying, "Whoa, that's a wide neck!"

James, I think for most electric players 1-11/16" is a good nut width (unless they have big hands) but for those of us who play acoustic 1-3/4" is the way to go, especially if you sometimes play fingerstyle as well as with a flat pick.  good luck, lou
