Your LP Wishlist?
« on: 13 Feb 2013, 03:12 pm »
Ok, so i was thinking about what records do i really, REALLY want but can't aquire either because of cost or rarity (and in must cases both). This was all kind of spurred on by Analogue Productions announcement of reissueing Roger Water's Amused to Death which would have made the list easily. Basically, to make the wishlist it has to have been a vinyl edition produced at some time.

My list would have be:

Nick Cave - Abattoir Blues / Lyre of Orpheus
Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat (Reissue)
Pink Floyd - Pulse
Eagles - Hell Freezes Over
Pearl Jam - No Code, Yield, Binaural, Riot Act, Pearl Jam

So, what would be on your list?

I would love to find the best pressing and super quiet record of Pink Floyd - Meddle
Not quite sure which one that is yet but I'm pretty sure it's the one I can't afford.   :(

The Ventures Golden Greats.  The one with the bikini babe on the cover.  My copy is trashed, but the SQ still comes through.

Considering I just got my TT up and running, I'd settle for anything that sound good.

But seriously, I'm thinking I might pop for a high dollar brand spanking new copy of DSoTM, for my first vinyl purchase.

I made a wishlist when I was first getting into vinyl, and I am happy to report that all of the LPs on that original list will have been acquired by the end of the month!

Finally broke down and got Aimee Mann's "Lost In Space" on an eBay auction, and Sigur Ros' LP "()" is being reissued this month (crossing my fingers for a good pressing).

Time to start making a new list...

Hey BISL,

Sometime soon, I need to cull my collection to make room for more. Since you are just getting into vinyl, I'd be happy to load you up with with my doubles (and triples). It might take a full day as I'll want to listen to a few seconds of each copy to see which is the cleanest but by the end of the day you'll probably have a pile of a hundred or two pieces. Most will probably be 60s through 80s rock.

...lemme know

My wish list

the MoFi box set of Frank Sinatra
a WLP of Deep Purple Machine Head
a WLP of Montrose
MoFi King Crimson, Crimson King

...maybe a few others but my collection is pretty complete.

Scott, I've got a man-crush on you right now.
You name the time, and I'll be there. With bells on.

Bob

By the way, if you recall, this is the table you tuned up at Steve K's house a few years back.
Sounded pretty decent on his Maggies.

Hey!!! I'm getting into vinyl just now too. I'd like a few of those records.  :green:

But I'm in Arizona... I'm like BISL too though. I just want to start fleshing out my vinyl collection (I have 3 records now, so it's quite the collection  )

My wishlist is as follows:

1. Anything by the band "No-man"
2. Beatles (any)
3. Pink Floyd (any)
4. Porcupine Tree (any)
5. Miles Davis/ John Coltrane (or any other great jazz artists that I haven't even probably heard of)

Does that count?

for starters I'd like to see all the Spirit and Traffic LP's reissued. Then maybe some of Jennifer Warnes older LP's reissued, and lest I forget! All the Molly Hatchet stuff reissued in a box set.

I'd like to see some of the small hip classical labels like BIS, Naxos, Pentatone, Cedille, 2L put their awesome catalogs of NEW recordings of NEW music on vinyl.

Wow, some very nice lists here.

I can't believe I forgot Porcupine Tree. I've got some of their stuff on DVD-A but nothing on vinyl and the prices are pretty steep.

As for Sigur Ros, they were reissued about a year ago but i don't know if they sold or not. I purchased () as well as A.B. (black cover/fetus record) but havent listened to them in a while. I'll give em a spin and let you know how they came out.

I'd also like to get my hands on a copy of Spiritualized Let it come down and Stone Temple Pilots Purple and Core, and REM Adventures in hifi.

As for the Dark Side of the Moon interests, i found a near perfect copy of the MSFL on ebay for $30 so good deals can be had.

Great lists, keep em coming!

I would like:

First pressings of PJ Harvey's Dry, Rid of Me and Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
A few Mothers of Invention albums that I don't have on vinyl
A few Who 180gm that I don't have yet
Remastered Jethro Tull Aqualung
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Division Bell - Pink Floyd

Fantastic idea for a thread. Many of us have exchanged records, received gifts from members, I think it would be great if we could have wishlists that somehow get posted for each of us separately and eventually get checked off as they get fulfilled.

I think I'd like to wake up and have my new US Beatles box turn into a Blue overseas box. Alchemy, eh?
