VR-1's in bookcase??
« on: 25 Dec 2009, 09:01 pm »
Has or does anyone have a VR-1 in a bookcase?  Not on top but on one of the shelves?  I am trying to find a pair of speakers that sound very good in this type of location.  Have tried Wharfedale 9.1's(way too bright), ACI Emeralds XL(too dull) and my current Green Mountain Audio Europa's(something isn't right but I can't figure it out.  will include a pic of how they are located so as to help.

VR-1s have an aperiodic release system so the hole in the back isn't really a port. This makes it suitable for use close to a wall. The problem in a book case would be diffraction from on top of the tweeter.

If you can get your hands on a pair of LCR-15s which are MTM, they would do much better than VR-1s in such a placement IMO. They are really designed with the possibility of being tucked in to a rack in mind. Your shelves can easily accommodate them by the looks of your pic.

Good Luck!
