CB,Pick up some bongos or congas--pretty mellow, not too loud, and can be pretty fun to jam on. I didn't gig, but did perform in a few recitals as a student--one in Nungua, Ghana which was pretty cool.I took my congas over to my buddie's house for his 4th of July party one year and played the back line for his blues band, just as a jam session, which was pretty fun. His teacher is Ron Hurst from Steppenwolf--cool dude that's been to the dark side and returned.Evan
That's cool! Have to be good to be with John Kay for sure. Always loved Steppenwolf & spin them on a regular basis. I'm way into the guitar thing to get any more percussion stuff. Either I need a bigger house or I need to stop hoarding audio & music gear! I still have my Holy Grail Scandinavian Birch "Sonorlite" kit that I bought new in '84 still in mint condition in their hard shell cases. They were custom ordered and shipped directly from Germany. I had a Tama kit I practiced & gigged with. The Sonor's are identical to what Jack Dejohnette used back then and he still plays Sonor drums. I'd be more inclined to pull those out into the great room for some drumming fun which has been rolling around in my head lately.
