Sad news, thanks for posting Jim.
I recently picked up a CD copy of Point of Departure and I was surprised at little bass and low mids are on the CD compared to the vinyl that I remember from 30 years ago. Great music. rip

I love Chico Hamilton's work with early Mulligan Quartet. rip

Hey Guys,

My introduction to jazz was in 2006.  Prior to that, it was all rock n roll.  First it was
Coltrane, then Monk followed by Hill.  Hill is my favorite Jazz musician.  But I thought he passed away years ago.  Maybe cancer?

Good call Pal,   wiki says he passed in 2007. Maybe I misread Jim's post...

Man, I am such a dufus.  The post I was referring to on AA originated in 2007.  I didn't scroll up and subsequently thought it was recent.  You are too kind, Rich.

Robert, I wouldn't buy that album based on the cover alone.  It reeks of lames.

Brilliant Pianist! I saw the Duke outside Basin Street in NYC in the 60s.He was standing in line outside on the sidewalk like everyone else. AMAZING!!! He was a very humble man and people were amazed at his humility. He was a great composer and arranger as well as was Billy Strayhorn his alter ego.

Thanks for the details.
Happy Listening.
