The color in Brian's picture on top is the actual color.  I really like the way they turned out, both cosmetically and soncally.

Since I've had these speakers for only a few days, I'll let them play for a few weeks before I really give an opinion.  I am driving them with an 8-watt 300B SET- Works with everything but loud rock.  (See my Audio Asylum "B" System.)  The only other thing I will say is I've never heard a better midrange from a two-way minimonitor.

Stay tuned!

Brian,

They look light blue to me, but then again, I can't view the photo at the top for some reason. Wanna shoot me over a pic?

Brian,
What is involved in doing a finish like that?  Does the paint go right over the MDF?  How about a piano black finish that you see on some commercial speakers like NHT?

Thanks

Hi Maggie Guy,
I painted the marble faux finish on the speakers.
I am a painter and happen to be Brian's "mean ole step Mom".
It was quite a job to do these. I have marbled flat surfaces before but doing these speaker boxes was a whole new task. After I painted the 2 base coats, then the sponging was done all around the sides and top.
After that, I painted the veins, then sponged again.
But the problem came when I finished the bottoms,,,I went up the side some to blend it all and the color was a little different, so I ended up re doing all the sides to match the bottoms. Needless to say, it was not easy but the end result turned out good. Then many coats of varnish were hand rubbed on top of the paint. Took about a week to complete, as all the steps have to dry between coats.
