Hi, All. Home Theater is not my thing, but I have a fairly low-end 65" Samsung TV that shares a room with my "quite nice" 2-channel system. The other day I decided to run an optical cable from the Toslink-out jack of the TV to one of the Optical-In jacks of my hifi's Okto Research dac8 Stereo DAC.
After ensuring that the Optical-Out on the TV was selected and the Optical-In on the DAC was active, I turned up the amp volume but all I heard was a strange crackling sound...not quite static, but certainly not distorted TV program sound either.
Is TV Optical-Out to DAC Optical-In a valid connection approach?
