Dac-9h: adding Vu-meter to coax output ?
« on: 18 Jan 2020, 02:10 pm »
I really want to add a pair of vu-meters to my Dac-9h ( something diy ), and i was curios if it's safe to use the coaxial output while using the headphone jacks. (i'm only using headphones)
Or can it have any negative impact doing that ?  (from my test, it works to output to headphones and some active speakers over coaxial)
I was planing on using the TEK Active control module for stereo meters.

well ... did it anyway.
The only small problem is that the RCA output from the Nuprime is influenced by the volume knob, so the vu-meters level is modified, but it's not a big issue, as i usually listen to similar level.
An upgrade would be to put some external level control on my vu-meters.
The biggest challenge was to cut that 10mm aluminium face, luckily my wife managed to do it at work.

DAC-9H/9 headphone amp and line out (XLR or RCA) are designed to work in concurrently if necessary.
