I'm quite satisfied running the Hornshoppe Horn/Heil-AMT combination (with Ed Schilling's outboard crossover) driven by Roger's EM7-2.5 amp. Am picking up a TBI Magellan sub  in a couple months to substitute for Ed's bass cube.

111 votes and I'm the only one who clicked the "I built my own" button?
Certainly that's not correct.

1. Tube DD Electrostatics, one of the most magical experiences I've had in audio. Wish 'kept the Acoustat DD amps.

2. High-efficiency, single-driver (or + woofer) with killer dynamics and no screech.

Thus, my votes.

I build stuff too. There weren't enough options to vote for several categories.

A word to the wise.  Light colored fabric covers will become discolored over time cause electrostat elements attract dust unless they are vacuumed every so often and when moving them wear gloves cause bear hands touching the fabric will deposit oil and dust loves oil.

After more than a 25 year layoff from the pursuit two channel nirvana I'm enjoying a pair of 1.7's.

I found the right dac for my ears, three or so years in and I'm still quite pleased.

Martin Logan SL3 + REL T1sub + DSPeaker Dual Core DRC/EQ. Driven by RM 200 Mk II. Don't find the SL3's woofers or the sub to lag behind. Works well for me. (I listen mostly to jazz and classical). Occasionally, I wished for a more powerful amp, but I recently moved to a smaller house and smaller listening room, where the current setup seems to be doing fine.

I've got one of these kits on order:

http://www.diysoundgroup.com/waveguide-speaker-kits/fusion-series-kits/fusion12-kit.html

Let us know how it sounds. The efficiency of 98 dB is impressive. This would be a good mate for an EM-7 amp for someone who listens below 100 dB SPL.

Have planar magnetic + dynamic speakers (magnepan, totem, vandersteen), but after hearing r.wasserstrom's ESL 57's, would like to have a pair of those as well........can never have enough speakers (if you have some place to put them).

New registree!

I've owned the same pair of Klipsch Heresy IIs purchased new in 1979. Probably 95% of what I listen to is live music, either recorded by myself or other sources. I really enjoy the live quality of a loudspeaker system and appreciate the relatively small size. This pair probably could use a thorough checkup given their age, but here is my question: would these pair well with an RM10 tube amp?
