BCD-3 display brightness
« on: 24 Mar 2020, 10:30 pm »
Hi James,

My BCD-3 CD player does a wonderful job, but the display brightness is a little bit too much for these old eyes. Is it possible to dim the brightness with a code of the BR2 remote? I know, it can be done with a web browser, but my BCD-3 is not connected to a network, unfortunately.

Many thanks in advance,

WillyP

I switch my display off completely (BCD-1), using BR2.

Thanks, CanadianMaestro, for your reply. The procedure for the BCD-3 is the same as for the BCD-1 and it works. It is an all-or-nothing solution, though. I ’d rather see what is going on on the display, only not so bright.

Kind regards,

WillyP

Good to know, Willy.
On BCD-1, the display is tiny, so I can't see anything from my chair.
It's unlikely, imho, that the display brightness can be fine-tuned.
My preamp has it (LS27), but ARC says that needs a bit of electrical working to do it.

Enjoy the musik,stay healthy.
cheers

There was 3 brightness settings plus off for the bcd-1.Don't know why they didn't do the same for the bcd-3.

How do the BCD-1's three brightness settings progrmed on the remote? The manual says only on/off:

Just a little update, using my BCD-1 remote to control the BP-26 vol by entering the code on remote works great.
Also entering code for display off and on works great, just the display brightness is not working.
9:51,time to call Mike..........................5min later:
Answer is,with the NEW display there is no dimming capabilities, plus the display will last longer,so...................ALL's GOOD.

Gee all I wanted was the tray problem fixed(which it is)  plus a new display,TYPICAL BRYSTON :thumb:.

In later models of the BCD-1 it was not possible anymore to dim the display. Quote is from an earlier thread.

I use LightDims to reduce the brightness of LEDs and displays. They have precut, cut-to-size, and different amounts of "dimming" in white, black, and silver.

Don’t need to dim the display on my BCD-1. Only about five of the LED dots work.

I have found the manual of the version of the BCD-1 where it was possible to dim the display. I have tried the codes for my BCD-3, but they didn’t work.

Still looking for a way to dim the display without a connection to the network. James, Mike or Stan?
