Replace my 14B-ST with 14B-SST^2?
« on: 19 Dec 2008, 06:11 am »
I've had and loved my 14B-ST for six or seven years. And yet I am intrigued by reports of the new "squared" series; in particular, that the treble is sweeter. That is an area of hifi I am quite sensitive to.

Unfortunately, I have no nearby dealer to lend an 14B-SST2 for audition -- so I am looking for a little background from those who have heard both amplifiers (and of course that includes you, James).  Should I be considering a swap?

The rest of the system includes a Meridian G98 used as a transport, a TacT 2.2X digital preamp, and Revel Ultima Studios. (No turntable for several years now . . . but that's another story).

Given my digital main source, will the difference be audible, and will it include the area I am so sensitive to?

Thanks!
