BDP 3 as a Server Question
« on: 6 Feb 2024, 02:57 am »
Good Evening-

I recently acquired a network streamer fed via ethernet. Using the JPlay IOS app for control it creates a "Room Like" interface with Qobuz and files sorted on my BDP3.
The BDP3 is set to DNLA, Server mode and fed to a network switch via ethernet. Essentially, the BDP3 is now a NAS.

It all works quite well with one glitch. The Aiff files of my ripped CD's are not recognized by the JPlay app unless converted to FLACs. JPlay will recognize Aiffs on a NAS via a media server such as Minimserver. Posing this in the JPlayT forums, and the issue seems to  something in the BDP's firmware.

In all fairness, the DNLA server mode is touted as "Beta" and the primary purpose of the BDP3 is a player not a server . So out of curiosity might there be a work around to get the Aiffs visible? Or might it be possible to install Minimserver on the BDP3?

Thanks,

John
