I have been working on some product for Mockingbird Audio and they will also be sharing my room with me and the gang at RMAF.

It is a four piece set of speakers. I guess you can call it a Sub-Sat system as each tower has a matching mini sub tower.

Here are a few teasers showing how some of the cabinets looked when they arrived.

Arrived?  You need to be out making some sawdust  :green:

I'll make sure and come by to give it a listen.  Good luck at the show!

Open baffle line sources.... Sub towers have three 12" servo woofers per side.

No sawdust making for me. If I were in the cabinet building business I'd go broke.

Any new GR Research products or are you still waiting on the servos?

I am still waiting on the new servo amps for the 8's. Brian made some changes to them for reliability and refused to accept them as per the last sample. It also involved a trip to China (again). He says they should be right, built, shipped, and here before the end of the year. Yeah, I about gagged on the "end of the year" time frame.

Danny,

Do you still have R&D work to do once you get the servos? What type of time frame after the servo's are delivered before you have the new models (say the X-Otica) available? Just planning ahead.  If it's going to be the middle of next year I will plan on building something else, at  least in the meantime.

Thanks,

Mike

Before they get here I will have everything else built, tested, and tweaked.

Danny:
I might see some sawdust in your immediate future.
Would a run around the back of the driver cutouts with a round-over / chamfer bearing router bit make an audible difference?
Those front panels look pretty thick.

Shawn ... Festool sucks great : )

Those look incredible Danny! Reminds me of Mini Infinity RS for some reason....

Wait, those look HEAVY!  :o

You sure those are going to fit on the service elevator?  :icon_twisted:

You mean like this?

They came that way.

Here are a few pics of one standing up so you guys get an idea for what's really here. Woofers are in on this one, but not the tweeters yet.

And yes, it has a wing on one side.

The woofers were custom built just for this open baffle application. The tweeters are the same custom Neo's that are used in the LS-6 and LS-9.

They will not. We will have to use a stair crawler to help left them up two flights of stairs. It's a good thing we aren't on the 11th floor.

At least they weigh less than the LS-9's!

I am volunteering to help move these babies!  :thumb:

Well then, make sure you bring your stair crawler cause mine won't fit in checked baggage.....

Are the sub modules active or passive?

The subs are powered by their own amps and are servo controlled.

Nice!  How does it sound versus the Super 7 or the Super V?

Fun!  Danny, I know you've been itching to do OB line arrays for a while now.

Questions:

The subs - I'm assuming six drivers per side running off of the new dual channel hypex plate amps?
Are the tweeters open backed as in the Super-7 or are they front firing only?
Pricing?

The woodwork looks very nice as well!  I'm also curious to see how the wire management was handled, as with all those drivers there is a lot of wire that has to happen back there.
