Help me battle my fear of grounds?
« on: 4 Mar 2005, 10:31 pm »
In episode 39 I confused ground and negative in the power supply.
In my quest for a DC power connector Jim and others established that 3 poles were sufficient. So the Powercon should work.
I'm having trouble dealing with the reality of being able to combine the grounds of the power supply  in a  connector and then separating them going on to their proper places on the fono board.
I feel comfortable with the 2 DC connectors idea of Jim but I can't find them. When I look in Mouser or Digikey DC connectors are these many pronged mic connector looking things. Where do you get the good old wall wart type?

Mouser has the basic "dc-jack" parts.  I use one on FryKleaner Pro, #163-4304.  They also have 2.5mm ones, other shapes, etc.

You only need to use one ground.  Just because there are several ground holes on the circuit board doesn't mean you need to use them all.

jh :)
