Don't think so.  Lots of people laugh at audiophiles.  ESPECIALLY other audiophiles!

Anyone remember those obnoxious Acura commercials about conspicuous consumption w/ the audiophile next to the tube amp saying it could produce frequencies that only dogs can hear - as if that were difficult to achieve or "audiophile"?  Managed to me to also alienate a potential target market - though admittedly a tiny one.
