Back in 2002 I built some speakers I got from Danny. Had the audio bug and wanted to try some vacuum bag raw veneering so this seemed like a natural.
When we bought the house we live in there was space for a shop which I had plans to start building right away. The speakers weren’t being used and went into storage. Long story made short, it took me 5 years to get it done and I’m just now moving stuff in.
I always figured I’d put these in the shop, but when it came down to bracketing them somehow for hanging from the ceiling, I really started waffling about shooting screws into them….just couldn’t bring myself to do it. So I bought some old Advents on Craigslist thinking I’d use them and keep the GRs for I-don’t-know-what.
I’ve got the Advents sitting on the bench before I made something to hang them and thought (ya know how that can be!) I’d give the GRs a listen since it’d been so long. Once hooked back up there was no turning back, I decided to support them somehow un-screwed and use them like original plan.
This is what I cooked up watching TV and doodling one night. Scraps except the bomb can of red paint.
I think they’re happy now that they breathe again.
