HT passthru workaround with 4BSST / BP26?
« on: 11 Mar 2008, 08:06 pm »
First off, what a great forum. I've been lurking for awhile and there is some great reading here...

I have a BP26 and a 4BSST. I'd like to integrate an HT receiver into the mix. With a balanced XLR connection between my BP26 and the 4BSST, is it possible to also connect the single ended RCA connectors from the pre-outs of my Denon receiver to the inputs on 4BSST at the same time, and just use the switch to switch between the two inputs? Obviously, only one system would on at one time (ie. if I am using the BP26, then the Denon receiver will be 'OFF').

Or, is this not advised? Can the switch handle such repeated use?

Any input would be appreciated.

Oh, the switch can handle it. Yes, its the only way since your preamp doesnt have the pass through/bypass option, and it will work just fine.
Just calibrate the sound in the receiver with the amp in use, there might be a gain difference compared to your Denon alone.
In my opinion the Denon doesnt even have to be off when the toggle switch on the Bryston is in xlr mode.
