Need help with BDA-1 programming
« on: 25 Jan 2010, 12:16 am »
I picked up my DBA-1 yesterday and I'm trying to play around with the output levels, but I'm having troubles programming them with the BR-2 remote.

As per the instructions, I hold down the CODE key until the red lights flashes a few times.  I then enter the code 250, 251, 252 or 253 to reduce the output level by 0, -1, -2 or -3.

My problem is that after the right light has flashed and stays lit, I enter my code and the red light goes off and the buttons I'm pressing now correspond to changing the input selector.  So entering 253 for example will put me on OPTO2 input and I don't get to the point where the remote flashes to say it's excepted the code.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.  This seems so simple, but it doesn't work for me...

Wayne.

Hi Wayne,

The reduction codes are for the CD Player not the Dac.

Hi James, I cut and paste this from your BR2 remote control manual and it appears to be specific to the BDA-1 and not the CD.

PROGRAMMING THE BDA-1 via the BR2 REMOTE CONTROL:
Press the CODE button on the remote control until the red LED lights and then enter the 3 digt code as listed below. The LED will flash to confirm transmission and then extinguish.
021: source OPTO-1 026: source SPDIF-4 250: Output level 0dB
022: source OPTO-2 027: source AES/EBU 251: Output level -1dB
023: source SPDIF-1 028: source USB 252: Output level -2dB
024: source SPDIF-2 029: Power ON/OFF 253: Output level -3dB
025: source SPDIF-3 030: Upsampling ON/OFF
Codes 021 thourgh 030 mimic the actions of the corresponding dedicated buttons on the BR2. These codes can also be sent to the BDA-1 via the RS232 control port to facilitate the use of system controllers such as those provided by AVX, Crestron, etc.
For more information see the BDA-1 Owners Manual

If this can't be done through programming, is there another way to reduce the output level??  What I've found by putting the BDA-1 inbetween my CD and BP26 with a balanced connection is the volume level has increased and I now only move my volume knob to around 8 or 9 o'clock and anything after 9 o'clock starts getting really loud.  Before the BDA-1, I was used to around 11 o'clock for the same volume level.

Hi,

Hope this helps

DO NOT hold the code button down until the red LED flashes.

Instead press the code button until the red LED stays on - this is just a press NOT press and hold for 5 seconds.

Then enter the code.

If you check back the manual does mention it this way, the press and hold until flashing is for other items on the prior page.

The question came at a time I was doing exactly the same thing with a BDA-1.

So that was easy.

It worked!!

I appreciate the help guys.

-3 dB only makes a slight difference, but it's enough to make me happy.

Need to raise up this old thread.

Cannot program br2 to operate with b60r.
I press and hold the code till the led flash and release it.
Then I enter the code 722, led flash twice, but still cannot dice b60r with br2.

Need advice.
