My first Tube Amp, 2a3

I had this amp built locally, with 12AT7s & JJ 2a3-40s, and other various fancy upgrades. It sounds great with my Moabs. I use an Odyssey Candela preamp, with RCA 12AU7 Clear tops.

This is likely replacing my Odyssey Kismet amp.

I just wanted to share  :D

Welcome to AC!

Your 2A3 amp looks similar to my Bottlehead Stereomour under the hood. I wonder if your builder was Paul B?

Thank you,

It was designed by Brandon Wade and Paul, built by Brandon.

Paul seems to be quite well known.

If you do go down the diy route or have a tech build one for you, Matt at CascadeTubes.com designs diy amps and maintains a blog on progress. He helps with queries when he can. He did a couple of designs for 6sn7/300b about 10 years ago in a rather long thread on diyaudioprojects.com  — http://diyaudioprojects.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2699&start=320&hilit=300b+monoblock. There are a few other builds too from another well known design on that forum. In 2019 I modified a eBay 300b I started out with and rewired to  one of Matt’s  designs, the one utilising both triodes of the 6sn7 per channel. Being unqualified I paid a guitar tech to inspect and test my work before first switch on when I first assembled the eBay version. Up until recently it has been playing everyday pretty much,  but now splitting time with a new amp of Matt’s design-a 12au7/6as7.
