We already know that 30% of Americans will not have a decent hi-fi system, and 60% of American households have a PC, but will 30% have a Wii by 2011? A Merrill Lynch analyst thinks so...

My 62 year old programmer friend who doesn't even have a cell phone and has a black and white TV, bought a Wii. OK he will be buying a new panel TV and probably a cell phone some day, but wow the Wii is really doing well!

No way will 30% have a Wii.  That is a lot of coin for a lot of people to have just for games.  Plus it does not play DVD's nor have a web browser.
Of course I have been known to be wrong before.  I thought MS had plenty of programmers in the mid 80's, it was in my backyard :duh:   I went into the restaurant business and now nursing.

Seems hard to believe.  I can't imagine ever buying one myself.

The next gen version coming out in a few months actually will play DVD's and the current version does have a web browser that goes live (currently beta but free to d/l through wii online) in March.

Ok, cool.  I still stand by my answer.  30% of 300 million people divided by 5? for the average household?  That is a ton of Wii's

Actually I thought I read that there would be 72 million households, so that would be even more.

One argument for this statement is the number of PS2s that are out there....
