Just an FYI that BJC now carries the new 12G '4K' Series by Belden:

Apart from the jacket lettering, externally these cables look just like the 6G versions, but internally they've been re-engineered for 12G. This has meant going to silver-plated copper center conductors, for improved attenuation; bonded foil, for tighter control of impedance; and reconfigured shield braids to prevent the shield from creating return loss issues.

Sounds like an affordable opportunity that should satisfy both audiophile and, er, Blue Jeans Cable fans. Personally I intend to get the 4694R version and use it for my internet coaxial cable. And just as a reminder you can also get really affordable pure silver only digital coax, the Audioquest VSD-5, here:

Of course, that doesn't have the same kind of credibility - specs, measurements, et al - as BJC.

Lastly, I've been messing around with a tweak (which I won't go into at this forum) that involves ethernet cables. I ended up cutting open a number of cheap Ethernet Cat7 cables off Amazon and I gotta say, some of them are poorly made. I mean, terrible. One exception was the Amazon brand:

The jacket is thick, the internals revealed high quality copper mesh braid, a high quality foil underneath, and then individually wrapped twisted pairs beneath that. All tightly wrapped. Screamed quality. The look and construction reminded me of a certain company. Then I remembered Blue Jeans Cable is also based in Seattle...  8) :eyebrows:

That's an interesting theory, esp. since BJC doesn't appear to sell Cat7 ethernet cables on their website (but for the right large contract price, I guess they could make them for others).

Why would you need Cat7 (or even Cat6) for digital audio?

By the way, Kurt Denke of BJC is a real world expert on digital audio cables.

When it comes to cable engineering design and manufacturing quality control, Audioquest is not in the same league as Belden (how's that for an understatement?).

Hey finally I agree 100% with you. Beldens Iconoclast cables are a prime example of what you said.

And their cost reflects that.
