You say on your page that you don't stock the DACT attenuators but I don't see the stepper motor and associated electronics on DIY's or Nutshell's site.

So do I buy the DACT from them and the rest from you?

I'd suggest doing that as John has put in all the hard work on the remote.

We don't yet have them on the site for what I consider a good reason.  I don't have a chassis that they will drop right into.  Installing one of these requires mounting the stepper motor on the back of the attenuator, mounting a control PCB in the chassis, mounting a IR eye on the front of the chassis and some sort of DC plug on the back of the chassis.  Retrofitting these in most already built products is going to be a little bit of a challenge and I can imagine the technical support type of questions becoming a real problem for us.

Having said that we are working on a chassis that will be a good platform for building the DACT line stage, phono stage and some of our other products and it is our intention to offer John's remote with these products.   It should greatly simplify the install and our number of technical support issues.

We also all owe John a big thanks for spending the time to make this available.  The remote is a simple and elegant solution and it works great.  No longer do you have to sacrifice sound quality to convienence.  Thanks John!

I will be building my own chassis.  It looks pretty straightforward.

Yes... since you are starting with your own empty chassis it should be a peice of cake.

Hello!

Thanks for responding Kevin! I escaped for a few days away but am back at it now. You covered most the install details - thanks!

If you are doing a diy project and making your own case the remote mod is easy to fit in. As Kevin points out it is pretty easy to install in an existing pre-amp too but you may need to be a bit more creative about mounting the remote pcb, etc - not just plug and play.

As Kevin notes I have spoken with him about selling the remote mod kits and expect we'll be setup to do that soon. It does not make sense for me to stock and sell dact attenuators as I could not stock a wide range and Kevin offer's good service and stock's lots of dact stuff.

Please post or e-mail any questions that come up!

Many Thansk!
