I sold my collection but was partial to the coke bottle "G" tubes.

I found a Mullard on Ebay and am awaiting it to give it a try in my Mapleshade.  I was a little surprised how this tube in the power supply affects the sound.  Didn't expect it to have such an impact, but it does.

a little hard to find... The Bendix 5852

has the added benefit of a 45s warm up and a higher PIV of 1375v

A bit pricey when you find them, I think they were averaging around $45 bucks last I looked.

The Bendix 5852 is not always a drop in replacement for a 6X5. If you notice the AC transformer humming a little louder than normal, then the power supply might be having a difficult time with the 5852.

I like Sylvania 6X5s, GE and Raytheon too.

Yes, I purchased a Bendix to use as a rectifier in my Mapletree's Power Supply.  After purchase I learned it is not recommended for use in the Mapletree due to the tube's heater voltage requirement.  I did not think it worth the money and trouble to upgrade the power supply to allow the use of the tube without potential damange.  I ended up purchasing the Mullard Rectifier from the Big Red Machine.
