Dumb electronic cable question
« on: 24 Mar 2012, 04:29 pm »
I got some bypass caps from Danny to block low signals to the amp that feeds my Super V's. So I made a little jumper and soldered the cap on the positive leg between the connectors. It worked great except no sound at all left this contraption. It definitely bypassed.

Now I'm thinking that this cap goes in parallel with a normal conductor not just by itself.

Help

Dumb electronic answer is..

it helps when you plug the cable into an output, NOT AN INPUT   :duh:

You can block DC from entering your sub amp either at the output of your pre-amp, or the input of the power amp.  The blocking cap is run in series with the signal wire, not shunted to ground.

I'm not running a signal in parallel with the cap, just cap and ground. Sounds great after a few hours of breaking in the cap.

Wrong or right?

That is correct.  Cap in series with signal to coaxial driver amp.

Yep, that's it.
