Copper wired TX102 pre-amp
« on: 10 Apr 2009, 09:46 pm »
Hello John, what can you tell me about this version of your copper wired TX102 pre-amp. I see that 4 inputs/outputs are blanked out on the back panel, can you tell me what the inputs/outputs were, and what those switches are for above. If I go for this pre do you have any user/build instructions. P.S. my current pre-amp is an Audio Research LS3 with 8 db gain. Thanks.

Hello!

That was my original TX102 based pre-amp kit. About 1/2 were sold as kits and maybe 1/2 were built here. I can't recall the exact history of that unit but looking at the pics it has 3 rca inputs and 3 xlr inputs + a single rca and a single xlr output. Almost certainly MK I TX102 transformers. Should be a decent sounding unit I expect. Price will look good vs the S&B based Music First units - but at 750 UKP it is maybe not far off the original pricing.  No remote control - and it would be tricky  and a bit of work to add remote to that unit.......

Hope that helps!

John

Hello!

One set  selects if you are using the RCA or XLR outputs and the other set selects grounding options.

Thansk!
