So long as there's enough baffle for the driver to work with and a smooth round over you should be able to get pretty solid performance, though the crossover might need to change due to the change in the baffle shape/size.

Just placed an order on LGK kit and I am wondering if the bypass cap can be upgraded to Miflex copper foil or would that just be a waste of money?

I did mine with a Miflex cap and they sound great, but the difference should be pretty limited between the two with the Gen3 bypass being a cleaner cap, and the miflex being a richer/warmer cap. It will also make assembling the crossover much easier than the Miflex will since its so much smaller.

Hobbs.  Do you know if there will be "build video's" on the YouTube channel for the LGK's?  Thx

Hobbs,

Ive already let our web guy know that we need flatpack/assembled/finished cabinets on the site.
So hopefully soon.

Hobbs.  Do you know if there will be "build video's" on the YouTube channel for the LGK's?  Thx

Danny just filmed the introduction video for the LGK yesterday afternoon.
But yes, the plan is for a video series for assembly/installation, much like with our other kits to follow here shortly.

Danny/Hobbs,

Would there be any issue adding few inches to the bottom of the cabinet to make it taller? Of course I would keep the internal speaker volume as you guys designed it.
Basically an integrated speaker stand.  I'm thinking I would add a few layers of MDF to the bottom or a chamber where I could add sand or some other heavy material.

Not Danny or Hobbs but that is how the X-SLS cabinet is designed, with a sealed bottom chamber to get the tweeter height up.

So long as the internal volume stay the same, that's fine.

For LKG's what should the crossover on the amp/reciever bes set at?

Considering the sub would take care of everything below the crossover Hz setting.  Would it be 80 Hz?

There's not a lot of room for Norez and the cabinets are already pretty solid. We recommend lining the walls with fiberglass insulation or polyfill so long as you keep the port opening clear.

Try gluing some 1/2" carpet padding.  Not as dense as No Rez, but in limited spaces it works well.

Mine has some of the shredded felt/fabric from my AV123 X-statiks then the rest of the space is fiberglass and polyfill.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

On another note about the amp.

I was going to order an AIYIMA T9, integrated tube amp $98:

(Did not order, once I considered no phono preamp etc.)

     https://www.aiyima.com/products/aiyima-t9-bluetooth-5-0-vacuum-tube-amplifier-usb-dac-stereo-receiver-coax-opt-hifi-home-audio-digital-amp-w-vu-meter-100w?variant=39530049732683

This is out of stock at Critchfield, but instead I put on backorder an Onkyo TX-8220 Stereo receiver $249.

     https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Kshy2sH2KDb/p_580TX8220/Onkyo-TX-8220.html

Would prefer something a bit nicer with bas management, but I am getting two of these for two different sets of LGK's for different locations.

Just noticed the Onkyo has no crossover at all.  So perhaps this would be better instead:  Denon PMA-600NE

I would like optical in, so we could use this for the TV also.

Not sure how far down the rabbit hole I should go; for example bas management, and wouldn't room correction be great?

Seems that it would be best if I could configure the system so that at 80 Hz - 120 Hz send audio to the sub out, and only send audio out to the LGK's for 80 hz and above.

Perhaps I am overthinking this.

These are actually two setups I am try to do for my 19yo son, and my 21 year old daughter.

I am sure they don't care, but I enjoy trying to configure the system as well as possible.

That Onkyo is rated for 6-8ohm speakers.  Check with GR research on the impedance of the LGK's

That Denon integrated will be way better than that Onkyo.  You are getting more bang for the buck with an integrated amp over a stereo receiver.  If you want bass management then you will need to spend a lot more on something like this-

Or go with a Home Theater receiver
