VPI Prime
« on: 31 Oct 2017, 05:00 pm »
Hello,

Sorry if this has already been addressed. I recently got a VPI Prime turntable. I am considering the grungebuster Turntable Mat. I see there is also a grungebuster VPI spindle washer. Is the spindle washer required with the mat and if so, does it go on top of the mat. Also considering some sort of isolation under each foot of the VPI Prime motor, thinking maybe Baby Booties.
Thoughts please.

Thanks,
Ron

Hey There:

I am using a Way Excellent II mat on my Prime platter. I went back and forth between the Way Excellent II and the bare aluminum platter and like the sound with the mat way better. It looks like the Grungemaster may be for acrylic platters, not the aluminum Prime. Maybe check with Herbie to see what is best. As for the feet, I would suggest the Symposium Inserts:

I am using these with my Mini HRX feet and like them very much. Check them out!

I tried a Way Excellent II 4mm mat that I was using on my Thorens. I did prefer it over the bare platter. Just wondering if the grungebuster mat would be an improvement. Do you still use the VPI spindle washer?
