Dual sub H frame with built in amp
« on: 16 Oct 2021, 01:53 pm »
I'm just starting a pair of NX Oticas and a pair of H frame dual subs. The built in amp that russellberg did in 2020 looks like it'd work really well in my set up. Any issues or concerns folks have considered since then that's not in a thread somewhere? Anybody try Hobbs suggested sand filled chamber behind the amp? I'm also considering solid wood but not 2.5" thick.  I'll stay within Jay's specs and add no-res. Thanks!

I don't know the thread about building in the amp, but the concept could be implemented many ways. Concerning sand chamber, again I don't know what was suggested but I can't see a reason for it other than ballast down low, which really hasn't proven to be a problem as far as I know.

I've built two pair of triple towers with the amp built in an additional chamber under the drivers sized to fit the amp. I didn't use any sand and there are no problems with stability

I did a built in amp base and I did fill it with kitty litter. You can see my build here:
