Love and Mercy--Fantastic!

Watched Love and Mercy last night.  What a fantastic film!  An insightful look into Brian Wilson's brilliance and struggles with mental illness.  Cusack was good, but Elizabeth Banks as Melinda and Paul Dano as the young Brian were absolutely phenomenal.  Paul Giamatti was incredible as the evil and f'd up Dr. Gene Landy.

Highly recommended!

Oh, almost forgot, we followed it with a critical listen of Pet Sounds (kind of a double feature).  Recommend that as well! :D

Agree, Love and Mercy is a fantastic movie, even for non music fans.  For music fans, it is even better!

I was not all that aware of the story.  I found the movie disturbing but I suppose that is the point.

Agree that the cast was great.  Especially Banks.

I loved the film!  You don't have to be a Beach Boys fan to appreciate but having grown up listening to them it was an extra treat to pull the curtain back and see the process of a tortured genius.  Wilson was well ahead of his time.

Thanks for the link!  We watched a bit last night.  Seems Love and Mercy did a pretty good job of capturing the story.  Continuing to look for Smile--coulda sworn I saw it come up on NetFlicks, but couldn't find it yesterday.
