I use a URC MX5000 remote.  Getting programming software is a trick, and using it has a steep learning curve.  It can be programmed to do about anything.  I control most pieces of equipment via wifi.  It is beautiful, durable, and over the top WAF.  When equipment changes the remote's interface remains the same.  A new amp or TV is totally transparent to the user.  Alas, they quit making them but they're almost always on ebay.  They're definitely not cheap.  I wrestled with that for a while and then realized I keep a remote for years and they're less expensive by far than most gear.

I can't believe the problems that people are experiencing.  I have three in my home and have set up several for friends and family. Some with up to 6 devices.
The only time I've noticed an issue is if devices have "toggle" as opposed to "distinct" commands.
